Copy Mailchimp Email to Use Again

Replicate a Campaign

Use the replicate option to create a copy of a campaign in your account. When you replicate a campaign, we duplicate both its content and its settings.

In this article, you'll learn how to replicate different types of campaigns.

Before you start

Here are some things to know before you begin this process.

  • In most cases, it's better to reuse an email campaign layout instead of replicating an entire campaign. Replication is best saved for when you want to resend a campaign to people who didn't open it the first time.
  • Don't use Social Cards with replicated campaigns, as they may display content from the original campaign.
  • We strongly recommend that you replicate only the original version of a campaign. If you make a copy of a replica, some content and settings may not carry over as well.
  • It's not possible to change the campaign type of a replicated campaign. For example, you can't replicate a Regular campaign and turn it into an RSS campaign. To change the campaign type, save the existing campaign as a template, then create the type of campaign you want. On the Template step, choose the template you saved.

Replicate a regular, plain-text, A/B, or multivariate email campaign

  1. Click Campaigns.
  2. Click All campaigns.
  3. Click the drop-down menu for the campaign you want to copy and choose Replicate.

The replicated copy opens to the builder. Review the settings and content to make any necessary changes before you send to your contacts.

All replicated versions are stored on the Campaigns page and display the name of the original campaign, followed by (copy ##). You can edit the campaign name in the builder.

Replicate an RSS campaign

When you create an RSS campaign to share blog posts with your subscribers, it's considered the parent campaign. Each resulting RSS email your subscribers receive is a child campaign.

You can view and replicate both parent and child RSS campaigns from the Campaigns page, but the process to replicate each is different. When you replicate a parent RSS campaign, you copy the RSS merge tags and sending settings for that campaign. When you replicate a child RSS campaign, you create a copy of the child campaign's content, from that particular date and time.

  1. Click Campaigns.
  2. Click All campaigns.
  3. Click the drop-down menu for the RSS parent campaign you want to copy, and choose Replicate.

The replicated copy opens to the Recipients step of the RSS campaign builder. Move through the steps to review or make changes before you send to your subscribers.

Replicate a child campaign

When you replicate a child campaign, you'll produce an exact copy. The replicated copy will open in the regular email builder. If you attempt to change the template or access the Design step, your replicated content will be replaced with default template content. Move directly to the Confirm step to leave your content intact and send to your subscribers.

To replicate a child campaign, follow these steps.

  1. Click Campaigns.
  2. Click All campaigns.
  3. Find the RSS parent of the child campaign you want to copy, and click Sent Campaigns.
    click sent campaigns
  4. Click the drop-down menu of the child campaign you want to copy, and choose Replicate.
